Bemidji Man Charged in Stolen Van Case<\/h2>\n

Bemidji, MN<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Bemidji man is facing a felony charge after prosecutors say he drove a stolen work van without the owner\u2019s permission.<\/p>\n

Davin Lee Jones-Colgan, 18, of Bemidji, has been charged in Beltrami County District Court with theft of a motor vehicle without owner consent.<\/p>\n

The charge stems from an incident involving a white Ram ProMaster 2500 cargo van. The van was reported stolen from a Bemidji business.<\/p>\n

Stolen Van Reported Missing<\/h2>\n

According to the criminal complaint, the van was last seen on June 27, 2026, at about 11 p.m.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was parked behind a business on Anne Street NW in Bemidji.<\/p>\n

The owner reported the van missing on June 29. The owner also reported that about $600 in cash and a debit card were inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Investigators reviewed camera footage that showed the van traveling through Bemidji on June 28.<\/p>\n

The complaint states the vehicle was later located near Decker Hall at Bemidji State University.<\/p>\n

The van was identified by its license plate and vehicle information.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was locked and appeared to be empty when it was found.<\/p>\n

After the owner arrived with keys, investigators searched the van.<\/p>\n

Several pieces of luggage were found inside. The owner said the items did not belong to her.<\/p>\n

One bag had a sticker with the name Davin Jones-Colgan.<\/p>\n

The complaint states the missing cash and debit card were also found inside the van and returned to the owner.<\/p>\n

Jones-Colgan Describes How He Got Van<\/h2>\n

Investigators contacted Jones-Colgan at a Bemidji State University dorm.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, Jones-Colgan said he received information that the van was available.<\/p>\n

He said he was told the keys were inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Jones-Colgan reportedly admitted he drove the van to the BSU campus and another residence before returning.<\/p>\n

He also stated that the luggage inside the van belonged to him.<\/p>\n

The complaint states Jones-Colgan admitted he was the only person who drove the van.<\/p>\n

During an interview with investigators, Jones-Colgan said he did not believe the person who directed him to the van owned it.<\/p>\n

He allegedly said he assumed someone else owned the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Felony Charge Filed<\/h2>\n

Jones-Colgan is charged with theft of a motor vehicle without owner consent.<\/p>\n

The offense is a felony under Minnesota law.<\/p>\n

The maximum possible penalty listed in the complaint is up to five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n

Court records show the case was filed in Beltrami County District Court.<\/p>\n

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
