{"id":38769,"date":"2026-07-23T12:15:54","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T17:15:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/?p=38769"},"modified":"2026-07-19T17:26:31","modified_gmt":"2026-07-19T22:26:31","slug":"bemidji-man-charged-after-highway-2-traffic-stop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/bemidji-man-charged-after-highway-2-traffic-stop\/","title":{"rendered":"Bemidji Man Charged After Highway 2 Traffic Stop"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Bemidji Man Charged After Highway 2 Traffic Stop<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Beltrami County (<a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\">trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 A Bemidji man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 2 in Beltrami County.<\/p>\n<h2>Traffic Stop Leads To Multiple Charges<\/h2>\n<p>According to a criminal complaint filed in Beltrami County District Court, Travis Keith Thompson, 41, of Bemidji, was charged following a June 27, 2026, traffic stop.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson is facing a gross misdemeanor charge for driving after his license was cancelled as inimical to public safety.<\/p>\n<p>He is also charged with driving without a required ignition interlock device and operating an uninsured vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint states the stop happened at about 10:15 a.m. on U.S. Highway 2 in Beltrami County.<\/p>\n<p>A trooper reportedly observed a black Cadillac CTS sedan with very dark window tint.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle was stopped because of the suspected equipment violation.<\/p>\n<h2>Driver Reportedly Admitted License And Insurance Issues<\/h2>\n<p>The complaint states Thompson was the only person inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>During the stop, Thompson reportedly told authorities he did not have identification with him.<\/p>\n<p>He allegedly stated his driver\u2019s license was suspended because he did not have an ignition interlock device.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities later identified the driver as Travis Keith Thompson.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint states Thompson also told authorities the vehicle did not have insurance.<\/p>\n<p>A records check reportedly showed Thompson\u2019s driving privileges had been cancelled for public safety reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Records also showed he had an ignition interlock restriction connected to his driving privileges.<\/p>\n<h2>Vehicle Reportedly Did Not Have Ignition Interlock<\/h2>\n<p>According to the complaint, authorities did not find a functioning ignition interlock device installed in the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The device is required for some drivers with alcohol-related driving restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint states that Thompson was arrested after the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The charges include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety, a gross misdemeanor.<\/li>\n<li>Driving without required ignition interlock equipment, a gross misdemeanor.<\/li>\n<li>Operating an uninsured vehicle, a misdemeanor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"max-width: 400px;\" src=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ThompsonTravis.png\" alt=\"Travis Keith Thompson mugshot\" \/><em>Mugshot of Travis Keith Thompson<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Previous Criminal History Listed In Complaint<\/h2>\n<p>The complaint lists several prior convictions in Minnesota court records.<\/p>\n<p>Those records include previous felony DWI convictions from 2010 and 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint also lists prior convictions involving fleeing in a motor vehicle and disorderly conduct.<\/p>\n<p>Charges in a criminal complaint are allegations.
