Detroit Lakes Crash Leads to Driving Charge<\/h2>\n

DETROIT LAKES<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Fergus Falls man faces a gross misdemeanor charge after a two-vehicle crash in Detroit Lakes.<\/p>\n

The other driver later died from injuries suffered in the collision, according to a Becker County court complaint.<\/p>\n

Everett Ormand Northup is charged with driving after cancellation as inimical to public safety.<\/p>\n

The charge was filed in Minnesota\u2019s Seventh Judicial District Court in Becker County.<\/p>\n

Crash Reported on Highway 10<\/h2>\n

The crash happened around 11:48 a.m. on March 15, 2026.<\/p>\n

Emergency crews responded to U.S. Highway 10 and East Shore Drive in Detroit Lakes.<\/p>\n

Witnesses reported seeing a westbound pickup traveling in the highway\u2019s right lane.<\/p>\n

The pickup then moved left and entered a left-turn lane, the complaint alleges.<\/p>\n

It then struck the rear of another pickup truck.<\/p>\n

Both vehicles suffered serious damage consistent with witness statements, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Authorities identified Northup as the driver accused of causing the collision.<\/p>\n

License Was Canceled, Complaint Says<\/h2>\n

Northup\u2019s driving privileges were canceled and denied as inimical to public safety, prosecutors allege.<\/p>\n

That status applies when Minnesota officials consider a driver a threat to public safety.<\/p>\n

A conviction could bring up to 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n
