Mahnomen Man Charged After Traffic Stop<\/h2>\n

Mahnomen<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Mahnomen man faces a gross misdemeanor charge following a May traffic stop.<\/p>\n

Duane Edward Sayers, 49, has been charged with driving after cancellation as inimical to public safety.<\/p>\n

The charge was filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District Court in Mahnomen County.<\/p>\n

The case is listed under court file number 44-CR-26-317.<\/p>\n

Vehicle Stopped on Jefferson Avenue<\/h2>\n

According to the criminal complaint, the traffic stop happened around 10:21 p.m. on May 28, 2026.<\/p>\n

A law enforcement officer was patrolling in Mahnomen when a vehicle was seen traveling north.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was traveling on Jefferson Avenue and reportedly had a headlight that was not working.<\/p>\n

The officer stopped the vehicle and identified Sayers as the driver.<\/p>\n

A records check then showed that Sayers\u2019 Minnesota driving privileges were canceled.<\/p>\n

License Listed as Canceled for Public Safety<\/h2>\n

Court records describe Sayers\u2019 license status as canceled as inimical to public safety.<\/p>\n

That status is often shortened to \u201cIPS\u201d in Minnesota driving records.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege Sayers knew, or reasonably should have known, about the cancellation.<\/p>\n
