Moorhead Man Charged After Courthouse Traffic Stop<\/h2>\n

Moorhead<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Hawley man faces two traffic charges after a May courthouse visit.<\/p>\n

Kallob Roy Burnside, 25, was charged in Clay County District Court. The complaint lists one gross misdemeanor and one misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

The charges remain allegations. Burnside is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n

Deputies Reported Seeing Burnside Drive<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Burnside appeared at the Clay County courthouse on May 21, 2026.<\/p>\n

He pleaded guilty that day in a separate insurance case, according to the filing.<\/p>\n

Courthouse deputies reportedly knew Burnside\u2019s driving privileges had been canceled.<\/p>\n

They allegedly watched him leave the building and enter a vehicle.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Burnside then drove away from the courthouse.<\/p>\n

A deputy stopped the vehicle on 11th Street North in Moorhead.<\/p>\n

Complaint Lists Two Traffic Charges<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors charged Burnside with failing to provide valid proof of insurance.<\/p>\n

The gross misdemeanor charge was filed under Minnesota Statute 169.791<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A conviction could bring up to one year in jail.<\/p>\n

The charge also carries a possible fine of up to $3,000.<\/p>\n

The second charge alleges driving after license cancellation.<\/p>\n

That misdemeanor was filed under Minnesota Statute 171.24<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The maximum penalty is 90 days in jail or a $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Both penalties could also be imposed.<\/p>\n

Prior Insurance Cases Cited<\/h2>\n

During the traffic stop, Burnside allegedly admitted knowing he lacked a valid license.<\/p>\n

He also allegedly told the deputy that the vehicle was uninsured.<\/p>\n

The complaint cites several earlier convictions involving vehicle insurance violations.<\/p>\n

Those cases were listed to support the gross misdemeanor insurance charge.<\/p>\n

The current case is filed as 14-CR-26-1875 in Minnesota\u2019s Seventh Judicial District.<\/p>\n
