Mahnomen Woman Charged After License Cancellation<\/h2>\n
MAHNOMEN, Minnesota<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Josephine Louise Defoe faces a gross misdemeanor charge following a May traffic stop.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors charged Defoe with driving after cancellation as inimical to public safety.<\/p>\n

The charge was filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District Court in Mahnomen County.<\/p>\n

Vehicle Reportedly Drove Over Curb<\/h2>\n

The criminal complaint says the incident happened on May 20, 2026.<\/p>\n

A White Earth Police Department officer saw a dark SUV enter the Fevig gravel parking lot.<\/p>\n

The lot is located along East Washington Avenue in Mahnomen.<\/p>\n

The SUV traveled south through the lot, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

It then crossed a curb before entering Railway Street.<\/p>\n

The driver did not use the marked entrance to reach the road, the complaint states.<\/p>\n

An officer stopped the SUV near Railway Street and McKinley Avenue.<\/p>\n

Josephine Louise Defoe was identified as the vehicle\u2019s only occupant and driver.<\/p>\n

License Records Checked<\/h2>\n

Defoe allegedly told the officer that she did not have a valid driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n

She also reportedly said she had no identification with her.<\/p>\n

A records check confirmed her legal name, according to the court filing.<\/p>\n

State license records showed her driving privileges were canceled as inimical to public safety.<\/p>\n

That status applies when Minnesota authorities consider a person\u2019s driving unsafe for public roads.<\/p>\n
