Fergus Falls Stop Leads to Stolen Car Charges<\/h2>\n

Fergus Falls<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Moorhead man faces charges after a stolen car was stopped in Fergus Falls.<\/p>\n

Brandon Alan Jones, 33, is charged in Otter Tail County District Court.<\/p>\n

The case includes one felony and one gross misdemeanor count.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from a traffic stop on June 27, 2026.<\/p>\n

Court records identify the vehicle as a 2008 Ford Taurus.<\/p>\n

An automatic license plate reader alerted on the Taurus.<\/p>\n

The vehicle had been reported stolen in Moorhead on June 24.<\/p>\n

The deputy followed the car and started a traffic stop.<\/p>\n

Jones was driving the vehicle, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Investigators contacted Moorhead police after the stop.<\/p>\n

The registered owner had reported the Taurus stolen three days earlier.<\/p>\n

The owner believed Jones took the car without permission.<\/p>\n

The complaint says video footage showed Jones taking the vehicle.<\/p>\n

After receiving a Miranda warning, Jones agreed to speak with the deputy.<\/p>\n

The complaint says he admitted taking his neighbor\u2019s car.<\/p>\n

Jones also allegedly said he knew his driving privileges were canceled.<\/p>\n

His record listed him as inimical to public safety.<\/p>\n

He was then taken to the Otter Tail County Detention Facility.<\/p>\n

The felony count alleges receiving stolen property involving a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n

A conviction could bring five years in prison.<\/p>\n
