Thief River Falls Man Faces Felony Sex Charges<\/h2>\n

THIEF RIVER FALLS<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Jarrett James McKay, 18, faces two felony charges in Pennington County.<\/p>\n

McKay is charged with two counts of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct. A criminal complaint was filed on June 30.<\/p>\n

Police received the initial report on April 1. McKay has been summoned to appear in court.<\/p>\n

The charges are accusations and do not prove guilt. McKay is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n

Allegations Detailed in Complaint<\/h2>\n

The complaint says a 16-year-old girl knew McKay from Thief River Falls. They had also connected through Snapchat.<\/p>\n

She told investigators they spent time together on March 27. They later spoke by phone after he drove her home.<\/p>\n

The girl said they would meet the next morning again. She said they watched TikTok inside McKay\u2019s bedroom.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, McKay then began unwanted physical contact. The girl said she froze during the encounter.<\/p>\n

She alleged that McKay took her phone and refused to return it. She also reported repeatedly telling him no.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges McKay then forced sexual contact. The girl said he told her not to leave afterward.<\/p>\n

She later returned to her grandparents\u2019 home. The complaint says she placed her clothing inside a garbage bag.<\/p>\n

She also blocked McKay on social media, according to the filing.<\/p>\n

McKay Denies Sexual Contact<\/h2>\n

McKay told investigators they cuddled, kissed, and watched TikTok. He denied having sex with the girl.<\/p>\n

He acknowledged knowing her age. McKay also agreed to provide a DNA sample.<\/p>\n

The complaint says McKay claimed the girl wanted to cause trouble for him. He reportedly gave no clear reason.<\/p>\n

Video and Laboratory Evidence Cited<\/h2>\n

The complaint also cites home security video dated April 13. The footage reportedly showed McKay leaving to pick up the girl.<\/p>\n

The two entered the residence about 23 minutes later. They left together at about 12:12 p.m.<\/p>\n

Investigators sent clothing to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension<\/a> for testing.<\/p>\n

A June 22 laboratory report found biological evidence on the clothing, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The filing says one DNA mixture supported McKay\u2019s inclusion. It also says another tested area matched McKay.<\/p>\n
