Halstad Assault Call Leads to Four Charges<\/h2>\n

HALSTAD<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Perley man faces four charges after a June 6 assault report.<\/p>\n

Guillermo Garza is charged in Norman County District Court. The case number is 54-CR-26-164.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists two gross misdemeanors and two misdemeanors. All charges remain allegations unless proven in court.<\/p>\n

Assault Report in Halstad<\/h2>\n

Deputies were sent to a Halstad home after an assault was reported. Garza had reportedly lived there for four weeks.<\/p>\n

A visiting woman, identified as D.M., accused Garza of pushing her down. She also said he punched her in the face.<\/p>\n

The complaint says D.M. had a swollen lip. Blood was also seen on her hand.<\/p>\n

Another woman reportedly witnessed the incident. She identified Garza as the person who pushed and punched D.M.<\/p>\n

Garza denied that any fight happened.<\/p>\n

A roommate also reported an earlier confrontation. The roommate said Garza grabbed him and pushed him down.<\/p>\n

Garza then allegedly acted as though he would punch the roommate. The roommate told deputies that he felt afraid.<\/p>\n

Arrest and Squad Car Damage Alleged<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Garza warned officers that handcuffing him would cause trouble. He was initially handcuffed without incident.<\/p>\n

Garza later pulled away while officers walked him toward a squad car. Officers brought him to the ground.<\/p>\n

Garza then allegedly tried to bite an officer. The officer moved an arm away and avoided being bitten.<\/p>\n

During transport, Garza complained of pain and asked for open windows. He pulled on bars, handles, and the partition.<\/p>\n

Officers took Garza to a Crookston hospital before jail. The complaint says his behavior became more difficult there.<\/p>\n

He allegedly struck the squad car with his fists. Other officers helped return him to the vehicle.<\/p>\n

At the jail, damage was found on an interior door handle. The complaint links the damage to Garza\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n
