Mahnomen Woman Charged After $7.81 Theft<\/h2>\n

Mahnomen<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 An Ogema woman faces two misdemeanor charges after an alleged theft at a Mahnomen store.<\/p>\n

Erica Nicole Brown, 39, has been charged with theft and obstruction of legal process.<\/p>\n

The charges were filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District Court in Mahnomen County.<\/p>\n

The case stems from an incident reported on June 1, 2026.<\/p>\n

Security Reports Store Theft<\/h2>\n

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to Starmart around 5:24 p.m.<\/p>\n

Store security had detained Brown outside the business before an officer arrived.<\/p>\n

A security guard reported that Brown took a small alcohol bottle and a pizza.<\/p>\n

The complaint states Brown left the store without paying and began eating the pizza.<\/p>\n

A receipt valued the two items at $7.81.<\/p>\n

Brown first denied taking anything, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

She later admitted taking store property but did not identify the items.<\/p>\n

Complaint Describes Struggle<\/h2>\n

The officer returned to a patrol vehicle to prepare a citation.<\/p>\n

During that time, Brown allegedly began walking away while carrying the pizza.<\/p>\n

The officer repeatedly told Brown she was not free to leave.<\/p>\n

Brown continued walking until the officer caught up with her, the complaint states.<\/p>\n

She then allegedly shouted, pulled away, and pushed the officer during the arrest.<\/p>\n

Another law enforcement officer arrived to help place Brown inside the patrol vehicle.<\/p>\n

The complaint states that Brown sat down but refused to move her feet inside.<\/p>\n

Officers eventually secured Brown inside the vehicle and closed the door.<\/p>\n

Brown was taken to Mahnomen Health Center for medical clearance.<\/p>\n

She was later transported to the Northwest Regional Correctional Center.<\/p>\n

During transport, Brown allegedly struck the vehicle\u2019s divider with her hands.<\/p>\n

She also allegedly tried to damage a rear-facing camera inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Two Misdemeanor Charges Filed<\/h2>\n

Brown faces one count of misdemeanor theft under Minnesota Statute 609.52<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She also faces obstruction under Minnesota Statute 609.50<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Each charge carries up to 90 days in jail and a possible $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The case is listed as Mahnomen County Court File 44-CR-26-314.<\/p>\n

Charges are allegations. Brown is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
