Mahnomen Woman Charged After Alleged Break-In<\/h2>\n

MAHNOMEN, Minn.<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Mahnomen woman faces two charges after an alleged break-in at a local home.<\/p>\n

Louise Joyce Thompson is charged with second-degree burglary of a dwelling. She also faces misdemeanor fourth-degree property damage.<\/p>\n

The charges were filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District Court. The case is listed as court file 44-CR-26-323.<\/p>\n

Woman Reportedly Seen Entering Window<\/h2>\n

Police were called to a home on Northwest Second Street at about 8:16 p.m. on June 7.<\/p>\n

A caller reported seeing a woman crawl through a window. The homeowner was reportedly away at the time.<\/p>\n

Officers found the front door and side windows secured. They later found an open rear window.<\/p>\n

A chair was positioned below the window, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n

As officers approached the front entrance, the door began opening. Thompson appeared with her hands raised near her face.<\/p>\n

She was holding what appeared to be a cellphone. Officers directed her backward before entering the residence.<\/p>\n

Thompson allegedly said the homeowner allowed her to be there. She later claimed she entered to wait for Andrew Manzi.<\/p>\n

Damage Reported Inside Home<\/h2>\n

Police found a window screen pushed onto the kitchen floor. The window could not be closed, the complaint states.<\/p>\n

Broken glass was also found inside the kitchen. Investigators reported seeing blood on the floor and a counter.<\/p>\n

Thompson was arrested at the scene. The complaint states that a preliminary breath test produced a reading of 0.26.<\/p>\n

Manzi later told police that Thompson did not have permission to enter. He also denied allowing her to damage the home.<\/p>\n

The complaint describes Thompson as Manzi\u2019s former partner.<\/p>\n

Charges and Possible Penalties<\/h2>\n

Second-degree burglary is a felony under Minnesota Statute 609.582<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years. It may also bring a fine of up to $20,000.<\/p>\n

The property damage count falls under Minnesota Statute 609.595<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That charge carries up to 90 days in jail. It may also bring a fine of up to $1,000.<\/p>\n
