Moorhead<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Authorities have identified the man who died in a workplace accident at a north Moorhead business.<\/p>\n

The Clay County Sheriff\u2019s Office said Stacy Martin, 51, of Fargo, died after an incident Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

The incident happened at Bert\u2019s Truck Equipment, 3804 Highway 75 N., in Moorhead.<\/p>\n

What investigators say happened<\/h2>\n

According to a news release, Martin was working with a lift axle on a truck.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office said a temporary weld failed during the work.<\/p>\n

The axle fell onto Martin\u2019s chest and abdominal area, the release said.<\/p>\n

Other employees lifted the axle off him, according to the release.<\/p>\n

911 call and response<\/h2>\n

Deputies and Sanford Ambulance responded at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, the release said.<\/p>\n

The call reported a workplace accident and a traumatic chest injury.<\/p>\n

First responders found Martin alert and conscious, the sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n

Sanford Ambulance transported Martin to Sanford Hospital, the release said.<\/p>\n

During the trip, Martin lost consciousness, according to the release.<\/p>\n

First responders began life-saving measures while en route, the release said.<\/p>\n

Death and autopsy<\/h2>\n

Emergency room staff continued life-saving efforts at the hospital, the release said.<\/p>\n

Those efforts were not successful, according to the sheriff\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

Martin was pronounced dead, the release said.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office said his body was taken for an autopsy.<\/p>\n

The autopsy will be done by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office in St. Paul.<\/p>\n

The investigation remains ongoing, the sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n
