Bena Man Charged in Alleged Assault on Mother<\/h2>\n

BENA<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me)<\/a> \u2014 Anthony Lee King Jr. faces felony domestic assault and property damage charges in Cass County.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from an alleged April 10 incident at a home in Bena. The claims appear in a criminal complaint filed in Cass County District Court.<\/p>\n

King, 19, is charged with felony domestic assault. He also faces one misdemeanor count of fourth-degree property damage.<\/p>\n

Complaint Describes Alleged Assault<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance around 8:35 p.m. King\u2019s mother spoke with deputies at the home.<\/p>\n

She alleged King had been drinking before entering the kitchen. The complaint says she confronted him about his behavior.<\/p>\n

King then allegedly struck her several times in the head with his fists. She reportedly grabbed a small wooden shelf for protection.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges King took the shelf and struck her with it. He also allegedly threw and broke a television.<\/p>\n

Injuries and Property Damage Reported<\/h2>\n

Deputies reported seeing redness on the woman\u2019s cheek and a bump on her head. They also noted bruising and a scratch.<\/p>\n

Broken pieces of the wooden shelf were found inside the home. Deputies searched nearby but did not locate King that night.<\/p>\n

The property damage charge involves a television valued at less than $500. The complaint says King lacked permission to damage it.<\/p>\n

Prior Convictions Cited<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors say two earlier convictions raise the current assault charge to a felony. Both convictions were entered in September 2025.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists one third-degree assault conviction and one domestic assault conviction. Prosecutors cite Minnesota\u2019s repeat-offense domestic assault law.<\/p>\n

A felony conviction under the cited law carries up to five years in prison. It also allows a fine of up to $10,000.<\/p>\n

The misdemeanor property damage count carries up to 90 days in jail. A fine of up to $1,000 may also apply.<\/p>\n
