Lake Bronson Man Charged in Child-Present DWI<\/h2>\n

LAKE BRONSON, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 A Lake Bronson man faces three charges after an early morning traffic stop.<\/p>\n

Casey Blake Stromgren is charged in Kittson County District Court. The charges include two counts of second-degree DWI.<\/p>\n

He also faces one misdemeanor count for an alleged open bottle violation. The case number is 35-CR-26-83.<\/p>\n

Deputy Reports Weaving Vehicle<\/h2>\n

The complaint says a deputy followed a westbound vehicle on County Road 10. The stop happened around 1:32 a.m. on June 21.<\/p>\n

The deputy reported seeing the vehicle cross the fog line. It then moved onto the gravel shoulder.<\/p>\n

The vehicle later crossed the center line twice, according to the complaint. The deputy stopped it near County Road 2.<\/p>\n

Stromgren was identified as the driver. The deputy reported smelling alcohol and hearing slurred speech.<\/p>\n

An open beer bottle was found in the center cup holder. The bottle was cold and about three-fourths full.<\/p>\n

Child Found Inside Vehicle<\/h2>\n

A 12-year-old child was seated in the rear passenger area. Court records identify the child as Stromgren\u2019s child.<\/p>\n

The deputy asked Stromgren to complete several field sobriety tests. The complaint says he showed multiple signs of impairment.<\/p>\n

A roadside breath test reportedly showed an alcohol reading of .197. Stromgren was then arrested and taken to jail.<\/p>\n

A later breath test reportedly showed an alcohol concentration of .19. Minnesota\u2019s legal driving limit is .08.<\/p>\n

Charges Filed in Kittson County<\/h2>\n

The two second-degree DWI charges are gross misdemeanors. Each carries a possible sentence of 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n

Each charge also carries a possible $3,000 fine. The open bottle charge carries up to 90 days.<\/p>\n

That misdemeanor also carries a possible $1,000 fine. Charging documents cite aggravating factors in the DWI counts.<\/p>\n

The complaint also lists a 2023 DWI conviction in Kittson County. That prior case may affect the current charges.<\/p>\n
