Pelican Rapids Jet-Ski Crash Injures Two Women<\/h2>\n

Pelican Rapids (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Two women were injured Friday after two jet-skis collided on Pelican Lake.<\/p>\n

The crash happened north of Pelican Rapids during the afternoon of July 3.<\/p>\n

The Otter Tail County Sheriff\u2019s Office received the report at about 4:32 p.m.<\/p>\n

Two Riders Taken to Detroit Lakes<\/h2>\n

A 19-year-old Minneapolis woman reported a possible back injury after the collision.<\/p>\n

A 20-year-old woman from Mound reported injuries to her head and face.<\/p>\n

Emergency crews treated both women before taking them to a Detroit Lakes hospital.<\/p>\n

They were transported to Essentia Health St. Mary\u2019s-Detroit Lakes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Authorities said both women suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.<\/p>\n

Their names were not released in the initial report.<\/p>\n

No Alcohol or Drug Use Suspected<\/h2>\n

Investigators found no reason to suspect alcohol or drug use by either driver.<\/p>\n

No arrests or citations were announced in the initial report.<\/p>\n

Officials did not release details about what caused the jet-skis to collide.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office is handling the incident report.<\/p>\n

Authorities may review witness statements and damage found on both watercraft.<\/p>\n

Several Agencies Assisted<\/h2>\n

The Otter Tail County Sheriff\u2019s Office led the emergency response at Pelican Lake.<\/p>\n

The Minnesota DNR urges riders to wear approved life jackets on the water.<\/p>\n

Riders should also use an engine cutoff device when their watercraft has one.<\/p>\n

Personal watercraft operators should watch nearby boats, swimmers, docks, and changing waves.<\/p>\n

The DNR also urges operators to reduce wakes near shorelines and other watercraft.<\/p>\n
