He also faces a drug-presence DWI charge.

That charge involves an alleged Schedule I or Schedule II substance or its metabolite.

Both counts cite two alleged aggravating factors. The complaint lists a prior DWI case and a child inside the vehicle.

Each count carries a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail. Each also allows a fine of up to $3,000.

Traffic Stop Leads to DWI Investigation

A Becker County deputy reported seeing a vehicle with a cracked windshield. An object was also hanging from the rearview mirror.

The vehicle’s license plate was partly blocked, according to the complaint. The deputy later read the full plate.

The deputy believed the vehicle belonged to Vasecka. The deputy also knew Vasecka’s driver’s license was revoked.

During the stop, the deputy reported seeing glossy eyes and enlarged pupils. Those observations led to field sobriety tests.

The complaint says Vasecka performed poorly on a horizontal gaze test. However, no impairment signs appeared during another walking test.

Anthony Leroy Vasecka

During a timing test, Vasecka estimated that 30 seconds had passed. The complaint says about 45 seconds had passed.

Vasecka allegedly admitted to using methamphetamine on June 8. He also allegedly reported marijuana use on the stop date.

A child born in 2020 was also inside the vehicle, according to the complaint.

Urine Sample Sent for Testing

Vasecka was arrested and taken to jail. A search warrant was then obtained for a urine sample.

The complaint says Vasecka provided the sample. It was expected to be sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

No laboratory result was included in the complaint. The drug-presence charge remains an allegation filed by prosecutors.

The complaint also references an earlier DWI case. It lists another DWI case that was still pending.

Readers can review Minnesota’s impaired-driving law through the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes.

Public case information may be available through the Minnesota Judicial Branch.

A criminal complaint contains allegations, not proof of guilt. Vasecka is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

I’m Chris Harper reporting for TRF News.

A Callaway man faces two gross misdemeanor DWI charges after a Becker County stop where a child was allegedly inside the vehicle with him.

[12
10812,257,770,1122,772,1191,883,151,93
post-35556","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-crime","tag-callaway","tag-car","tag-charged","tag-child","tag-crime","tag-drug","tag-dwi","tag-man","tag-with","entry
["GET
