Baudette Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Meth Charge<\/h2>\n

BAUDETTE, Minn.<\/strong> \u2014 trfnews.i234.me<\/a> \u2014 A Baudette woman faces four charges after a June 8 traffic stop near Clementson.<\/p>\n

Andrea Shawnette Rager, 47, is charged with fifth-degree controlled substance possession. That charge is a felony.<\/p>\n

She also faces two misdemeanor traffic charges and one petty misdemeanor charge. The charges include driving after revocation and having no proof of insurance.<\/p>\n

Rager is also accused of driving 79 mph in a 60 mph zone.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop Began Near Baudette<\/h2>\n

A court complaint says a deputy saw a silver Ford van at a Baudette gas station.<\/p>\n

The deputy checked the plate and found expired registration tabs. The van later traveled east on Highway 11.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the van accelerated after leaving Baudette. Radar measured its speed at 79 mph.<\/p>\n

The deputy stopped the van near Clementson. Rager was identified as the driver.<\/p>\n

She allegedly said she had no driver\u2019s license or vehicle insurance. The deputy also reported smelling burnt marijuana.<\/p>\n

Rager allegedly handed over a container holding several marijuana joints. A search then focused on a purse inside the van.<\/p>\n

Suspected Meth Found in Tin Box<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, the deputy found a tin box inside the purse.<\/p>\n

Rager allegedly said the box contained methamphetamine and a pipe.<\/p>\n

The box reportedly held a glass pipe, two crystal-like rocks, and white powder.<\/p>\n

A field test indicated the substance was methamphetamine. Its reported weight was 2.46 grams without packaging.<\/p>\n

The substance was placed into evidence. The complaint says it will undergo further testing at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.<\/p>\n

Rager was taken to the Lake of the Woods County Jail. She was booked on a fifth-degree drug possession allegation.<\/p>\n

Charges and Possible Penalties<\/h2>\n

The felony charge was filed under Minnesota Statute 152.025<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A conviction may bring up to five years in prison. It may also bring a fine of up to $10,000.<\/p>\n

The driving charge is listed under Minnesota Statute 171.24<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The insurance allegation falls under Minnesota Statute 169.791<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The speeding allegation cites Minnesota Statute 169.14<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The case is filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District as court file 39-CR-26-88.<\/p>\n

Charges are accusations. Rager is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
