Detroit Lakes Woman Sentenced in Meth Case<\/h2>\n

DETROIT LAKES<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A rural Detroit Lakes woman has been sentenced in a felony drug case.<\/p>\n

Shannon Ann Warren, 34, was sentenced for felony fifth-degree drug possession in Becker County District Court.<\/p>\n

The sentence followed an August 2024 traffic stop and Warren\u2019s arrest on an outstanding warrant.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop Led to Arrest<\/h2>\n

Court records say the case began during the evening of August 4, 2024.<\/p>\n

Warren was riding in a vehicle that was stopped in Detroit Lakes.<\/p>\n

A Becker County deputy stopped the vehicle because its license plate tabs had expired.<\/p>\n

During the stop, authorities learned Warren had an outstanding warrant. She was arrested and taken to jail.<\/p>\n

The criminal complaint said jail staff searched Warren during the booking process.<\/p>\n

Staff found a small plastic bag in her front pocket, according to court records.<\/p>\n

The bag contained about 0.68 grams of methamphetamine, the complaint stated.<\/p>\n

Prior Drug Conviction Listed<\/h2>\n

Court records also listed a previous drug conviction involving Warren.<\/p>\n

Warren was convicted of fifth-degree drug possession in 2018.<\/p>\n

That earlier conviction was included in the court record for the current case.<\/p>\n

Prison Term Stayed for Five Years<\/h2>\n

District Judge Michelle Lawson sentenced Warren on May 12.<\/p>\n

Warren received a one-year state prison sentence at the women\u2019s prison in Shakopee.<\/p>\n

However, the prison sentence was stayed for five years.<\/p>\n

A stayed sentence allows Warren to avoid prison while meeting court-ordered conditions.<\/p>\n

She was ordered to serve 66 days in jail.<\/p>\n

Warren received credit for all 66 days already served.<\/p>\n

The court also ordered Warren to pay a $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n

She must pay another $160 in court fees.<\/p>\n

Probation Includes Treatment Conditions<\/h2>\n

Warren was placed on supervised probation for five years.<\/p>\n

She must not use alcohol or illegal drugs during that period.<\/p>\n

Warren must also complete a comprehensive assessment.<\/p>\n

She must follow all treatment recommendations, including any required aftercare.<\/p>\n

The court ordered Warren to complete cognitive skills training.<\/p>\n

She must also follow any required cognitive behavioral programming.<\/p>\n

Failure to follow probation terms could lead to further court action.<\/p>\n
