Detroit Lakes Man Gets 57 Months for Felony DWI<\/h2>\n

DETROIT LAKES<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Christopher Corey Anderson, 31, has been sentenced for felony first-degree DWI.<\/p>\n

A Becker County judge ordered Anderson to serve 57 months in state prison.<\/p>\n

He received credit for 286 days already served in jail.<\/p>\n

The court also imposed a $50 fine and $190 in court fees.<\/p>\n

Anderson will face five years of conditional release after confinement.<\/p>\n

Rollover Crash Led to DWI Case<\/h2>\n

Court records state the case began on September 18, 2023.<\/p>\n

A deputy responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Becker County Highway 5.<\/p>\n

Anderson was found injured in a nearby field, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n

A white Dodge Ram with Wisconsin plates was resting on its side nearby.<\/p>\n

The deputy reported that Anderson was sweating and could not sit still.<\/p>\n

Anderson said he had eaten methamphetamine about five hours earlier.<\/p>\n

He was flown to Fargo by air ambulance for medical treatment.<\/p>\n

A later state laboratory test detected amphetamine and methamphetamine in his blood.<\/p>\n

Prior DWI Record<\/h2>\n

Court records show Anderson had a felony DWI conviction from 2021.<\/p>\n

They also list three earlier DWI-related convictions.<\/p>\n

Minnesota law allows first-degree DWI charges after certain prior felony DWI convictions.<\/p>\n

A second first-degree DWI charge was dismissed under the plea agreement.<\/p>\n

Separate Charges Also Dismissed<\/h2>\n

The agreement also resolved charges from a separate June 2025 case.<\/p>\n

That complaint alleged felony theft and driving with a canceled license.<\/p>\n

It involved a black 2024 GMC Sierra parked at the Detroit Lakes VFW.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleged Anderson drove away in the truck before later returning it.<\/p>\n

Anderson reportedly said he was confused about the vehicle\u2019s owner.<\/p>\n

The truck was undamaged, and no property was reported missing.<\/p>\n

Both charges from that case were dismissed under the agreement.<\/p>\n

Sentence and Conditional Release<\/h2>\n

The sentence was issued on May 12 in Becker County District Court<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Anderson was committed to the state prison at St. Cloud.<\/p>\n

Minnesota law<\/a> classifies first-degree DWI as a felony.<\/p>\n

The offense can carry up to seven years in prison.<\/p>\n

State sentencing law<\/a> requires five years of conditional release after prison.<\/p>\n

A release violation can lead to additional time in custody.<\/p>\n
