Horace Man Set to Change Plea in Fatal Shooting<\/h2>\n

HORACE, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Derrick Lobbo is expected to change his plea Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Lobbo, 21, is charged in the shooting death of his girlfriend, Sakeena Khaadi. Khaadi was 23 years old.<\/p>\n

The hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. before Cass County District Judge Tristan Van de Streek.<\/p>\n

The hearing comes nearly seven months after the shooting. The case has been delayed five times since January 2026.<\/p>\n

Lobbo pleaded not guilty to all charges in February.<\/p>\n

Four Felony Charges Remain Pending<\/h2>\n

Lobbo faces two Class B felony charges. They include manslaughter and aggravated assault.<\/p>\n

He also faces reckless endangerment with a firearm. That charge is also a Class B felony.<\/p>\n

A Class C felony child neglect charge is also pending.<\/p>\n

The charges relate to Khaadi\u2019s death on Nov. 6, 2025. The shooting happened at an apartment building in Horace.<\/p>\n

Deputies Responded to a Disturbance Call<\/h2>\n

Cass County deputies responded shortly after 8 a.m. They found Khaadi in the building\u2019s hallway.<\/p>\n

She had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. A medical examiner later ruled that the injury caused her death.<\/p>\n

Lobbo called 911 and said his girlfriend had been hurt. Court records describe another caller\u2019s statement to dispatchers.<\/p>\n

That caller reported hearing a man say the gun fired and struck Khaadi.<\/p>\n

Deputies found a 9mm handgun inside the apartment. It was near the kitchen island, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Child Was Not Injured<\/h2>\n

Court records say Lobbo\u2019s 2-year-old child remained inside the apartment after the shooting.<\/p>\n

The child was alone and could reach the firearm, prosecutors allege. The child was not injured.<\/p>\n

The Cass County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a> also maintains an official website.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors have filed notice seeking dangerous special offender sentencing. That request could affect sentencing if Lobbo is convicted.<\/p>\n
