Burlington Head-On Crash Kills 84-Year-Old<\/h2>\n

Burlington<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 An 84-year-old Burlington man died Sunday after a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 2.<\/p>\n

The crash happened at 2:29 p.m. near mile marker 136. The site is about one mile west of Burlington.<\/p>\n

Vehicles Collide Head-On<\/h2>\n

A 2020 Subaru Forester was traveling east near the crash site. The vehicle crossed the median and entered the westbound lanes.<\/p>\n

The Subaru continued east in those lanes. It then struck a westbound 2026 Dodge Ram 1500 head-on.<\/p>\n

The Subaru driver died at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt, according to the release.<\/p>\n

The Dodge driver was a 68-year-old Tioga woman. She suffered serious injuries during the crash.<\/p>\n

Emergency crews treated the woman at the scene. A medical helicopter then flew her to Minot for further care.<\/p>\n

Officials did not release either driver\u2019s name. Names may be released after family notifications are complete.<\/p>\n

Highway Closed for Two Hours<\/h2>\n

The road was dry when the crash happened. Skies were clear, according to the initial report.<\/p>\n

Westbound Highway 2 remained closed for about two hours. Crews worked at the scene and cleared the damaged vehicles.<\/p>\n

Drivers can check current closures through the state\u2019s ND Roads service<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Several Agencies Respond<\/h2>\n

Several agencies responded to the crash. They included the North Dakota State Patrol and Ward County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Burlington Fire and Response also assisted. Trinity First Response sent both ground and air medical crews.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota State Patrol<\/a> continues to investigate the crash.<\/p>\n

Officials have not announced why the Subaru crossed the median. No additional details were available Sunday evening.<\/p>\n

The investigation may include vehicle evidence, roadway marks, and witness statements.<\/p>\n
