Battle Lake Woman Charged After Toddler Tests Positive<\/h2>\n
BATTLE LAKE<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Battle Lake woman faces two charges after a toddler tested positive for cocaine.<\/p>\n

Jozee Ray Lee, 23, is charged in Otter Tail County District Court.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists fifth-degree drug possession as a felony.<\/p>\n

It also lists child endangerment as a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

Hospital Visit Leads to Investigation<\/h2>\n

Deputies were called to an Elbow Lake hospital on March 29, 2026.<\/p>\n

Medical staff had treated a 23-month-old girl following possible cocaine exposure.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Lee saw the child chewing on a cut pink straw.<\/p>\n

White residue was visible inside the straw, according to the filing.<\/p>\n

A toxicology test later showed cocaine in the child\u2019s system, the complaint alleges.<\/p>\n

Lee told investigators that she was folding laundry in a bedroom.<\/p>\n

She said the child found the straw inside a nightstand drawer.<\/p>\n

Lee then contacted relatives before taking the child for medical care, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Search Finds Alleged Cocaine<\/h2>\n

Investigators later obtained a search warrant for the Battle Lake home.<\/p>\n

Before the search, Lee described another bag stored inside a dresser drawer.<\/p>\n

She said she found the bag inside Nicholas Scott Olson\u2019s jacket in January.<\/p>\n

Lee told investigators she moved the bag into her dresser, where it remained.<\/p>\n

The complaint says deputies found the pink straw inside the nightstand.<\/p>\n

They also found a bag containing a substance believed to be cocaine.<\/p>\n

The drawer was near the child\u2019s eye level, according to the court filing.<\/p>\n

Both items field-tested positive for cocaine.<\/p>\n

The bag\u2019s contents weighed 7.3 grams, the complaint alleges.<\/p>\n

Charges and Possible Penalties<\/h2>\n

The felony charge falls under Minnesota Statute 152.025<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A conviction can carry five years in prison or a $10,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The child endangerment charge falls under Minnesota Statute 609.378<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That charge can carry one year in jail or a $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The case is filed as 56-CR-26-1171 in Minnesota\u2019s Seventh Judicial District.<\/p>\n
