Grand Forks Woman Faces DWI, Crash Charges<\/h2>\n

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 A Grand Forks woman faces three charges after a reported parking lot collision.<\/p>\n

Haleigh Kay Krogfoss is charged in Polk County District Court. The case stems from an incident on June 6, 2026.<\/p>\n

The complaint charges Krogfoss with second-degree DWI test refusal. It also charges her with third-degree DWI.<\/p>\n

A third count alleges she failed to report a collision with an unattended vehicle. All charges remain allegations.<\/p>\n

Witnesses Reported Two Impacts<\/h2>\n

Police responded near Town View Apartments at about 5:40 p.m. A caller reported a possible hit-and-run involving an impaired driver.<\/p>\n

Officers found a white Chevrolet Malibu near the apartment complex. Witnesses said the driver had walked toward a nearby store.<\/p>\n

Karen Paquette told police the Malibu struck her parked Kia Soul twice. Investigators reported no visible damage on either vehicle.<\/p>\n

Kirk Monson also reported seeing two impacts. He told police he stopped the driver from continuing to drive.<\/p>\n

Another witness provided a photograph of the reported driver. Police said the image matched Krogfoss and her clothing.<\/p>\n

Complaint Alleges Test Refusal<\/h2>\n

Police located Krogfoss near Cabela\u2019s, according to the complaint. Officers reported slurred speech, watery eyes, and argumentative behavior.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Krogfoss first acknowledged driving the white car. She later denied driving and refused field sobriety testing.<\/p>\n

Police reported finding Chevrolet keys in her pocket. Investigators later confirmed the keys operated the Malibu.<\/p>\n

At the police department, Krogfoss allegedly admitted to being intoxicated. She later refused the requested breath test.<\/p>\n

The second-degree refusal charge is a gross misdemeanor. The third-degree DWI charge is also a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

Each gross misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail. Each also carries a possible $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The collision charge is a misdemeanor. It carries a maximum penalty of 90 days and a possible $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Court Case Remains Pending<\/h2>\n

The complaint lists a prior 2020 impaired-driving conviction in Grand Forks. Prosecutors cite that conviction as an aggravating factor.<\/p>\n
