Cass Lake Man Charged in $2,349 Theft Case<\/h2>\n

CASS LAKE<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Cass Lake man faces three charges after an alleged theft and foot chase.<\/p>\n

Faron James Fineday is charged in Cass County District Court. The case was filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District.<\/p>\n

The court file number is 11-CR-26-824.<\/p>\n

The charges include felony theft, gross misdemeanor obstruction, and misdemeanor fleeing on foot. The alleged offenses happened on June 9, 2026.<\/p>\n

Property Valued at About $2,349<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, a woman reported that Fineday took her property after a domestic dispute.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the two had previously been in a relationship. It alleges Fineday left the area with several items.<\/p>\n

Those items included a JBL speaker, an Xbox console, and a MacBook computer. Their combined value was estimated at $2,349.<\/p>\n

An officer later found the speaker and Xbox near an ATV trail. The MacBook was still missing, according to the filing.<\/p>\n

Complaint Alleges Foot Chase and Resistance<\/h2>\n

The complaint says an officer saw Fineday walking near 164th Street Northwest that morning.<\/p>\n

The officer tried to speak with him about the reported theft. Fineday allegedly became upset and took an aggressive stance.<\/p>\n

Authorities then tried to detain him. The complaint says he pulled away, struggled, and ran into a wooded area.<\/p>\n

Officers searched the area but did not find him at that time.<\/p>\n

Later that evening, authorities received a report about a nearby fight.<\/p>\n

An officer then saw Fineday walking on 160th Street Northwest.<\/p>\n

The officer told Fineday he was under arrest. The complaint alleges he resisted before being restrained.<\/p>\n

Possible Penalties<\/h2>\n

The felony theft charge carries up to five years in prison. It also carries a possible $10,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The obstruction charge carries up to 364 days in jail. It also carries a possible $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The fleeing charge carries up to 90 days in jail. It also carries a possible $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n
