Crookston (trfnews.i234.me)<\/strong> \u2013 A 27-year-old Crookston man, Andrew William Gregg, is facing multiple charges, including felony stalking and domestic assault by strangulation, following a months-long investigation by the Crookston Police Department. Gregg was charged on December 12 in Polk County District Court with several offenses, including a pattern of stalking conduct, domestic assault by strangulation, misdemeanor domestic assault, and two counts of interference with privacy.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from incidents that occurred between June 13 and September 13 involving a female victim. According to the criminal complaint, the investigation reveals disturbing behavior over several months.<\/p>\n

Incident Details:<\/strong><\/p>\n

On June 13, officers responded to a residence where Gregg appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He claimed that a woman was suicidal, but the woman later told police she had asked him to leave multiple times and was not suicidal.<\/p>\n

The situation escalated on June 26 when Gregg allegedly broke into the woman\u2019s residence by entering through an unlocked window after standing on a bicycle and breaking a screen. She stated that he told her it wouldn\u2019t have happened if he still had a key to her residence.<\/p>\n

September 13 Incident:<\/strong><\/p>\n

A more serious incident occurred on September 13, when the woman reported that Gregg was drinking and possibly using cocaine. After returning to her residence, he became verbally abusive, using profanity and slapping her multiple times. According to the woman\u2019s account, Gregg then pulled her hair and placed his hands around her neck three times. On the third occasion, she was allegedly choked to the point where she could not breathe and feared losing consciousness.<\/p>\n

Detective Grabowski, who investigated the case, reviewed photographs taken by the woman showing visible injuries such as redness on her collarbone, swelling on her cheeks, and bruises along her jaw and arm, taken between September 14 and 16.<\/p>\n

Text Messages and Recordings:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The complaint also includes text messages sent by Gregg on September 15, in which he asked the woman if her eyes hurt and expressed his love for her, stating, \u201cI love you with everything I have in me.\u201d Further investigation revealed recordings made by a friend of the woman, where Gregg admitted to physical violence, saying, \u201cI would never never \u2026 hit somebody in my life, and I did\u201d and \u201cI was so messed up in the head that night.\u201d<\/p>\n

Search Warrant Execution:<\/strong><\/p>\n

On October 17, the detective obtained a search warrant for Gregg\u2019s residence in Crookston. Officers discovered firearms, ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and a cell phone. Field tests of white powdery residues found in multiple locations came back positive for cocaine.<\/p>\n

Video Evidence:<\/strong><\/p>\n

A search warrant for Gregg\u2019s cell phone revealed two video recordings showing sexual contact between him and the woman. In the second video, the woman can be heard saying, \u201cTurn it off.\u201d The complaint notes that the woman did not consent to the recordings and felt exploited when she discovered them.<\/p>\n

Current Status:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gregg is currently in custody at the Northwest Regional Corrections Center. If convicted, he faces a range of penalties, with sentences ranging from 90 days in jail for the misdemeanor domestic assault charge to up to 10 years in prison for the felony stalking charge.<\/p>\n
