Crookston Woman Charged In Highway 2 DWI Case<\/h2>\n

POLK COUNTY<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Crookston woman is facing a gross misdemeanor DWI charge after a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 2 in Polk County.<\/p>\n

Sheila Marie Olson, 50, of Crookston, has been charged in Polk County District Court with third-degree driving while impaired.<\/p>\n

The charge was filed under Minnesota Statute 169A.20<\/a>. It also references Minnesota Statute 169A.26<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Court records list the case as 60-CR-26-708. The complaint says the alleged offense happened on or about May 25, 2026.<\/p>\n

Reported Intoxicated Driver<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, dispatch received a report of a suspected intoxicated driver.<\/p>\n

The reported vehicle was described as a gray Honda Accord. A Minnesota State Patrol trooper later saw a vehicle matching that description.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was traveling on U.S. Highway 2 in Polk County. A traffic stop was started at about 6:55 p.m.<\/p>\n

The driver was identified as Sheila Marie Olson.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, Olson admitted she had been drinking earlier that day. The trooper also reported smelling alcohol.<\/p>\n

Breath Test Allegations<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Olson was given field sobriety tests during the stop.<\/p>\n

A preliminary breath test showed a roadside result of 0.144 BAC, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Olson was then arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.<\/p>\n

She was taken to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At about 8:05 p.m., Olson provided a voluntary breath sample. The complaint says the final result was 0.12 BAC.<\/p>\n

Minnesota law generally bars driving with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more.<\/p>\n

Prior DWI Listed In Complaint<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Olson had a prior DWI conviction from September 15, 2020.<\/p>\n

That prior conviction is listed as an aggravating factor in the new case.<\/p>\n

The third-degree DWI charge carries a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail. It also carries a possible $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n
