The report came from a home on 14th Street NW in East Grand Forks.<\/p>\n The vehicle owner reported that his blue 2006 Honda Civic was missing. The car had a Minnesota license plate JLX923.<\/p>\n The owner said he had parked the car on the street the night before. He said the vehicle was parked at about 8:00 p.m.<\/p>\n He also told police the keys were left in the ignition. The complaint says that it was due to mechanical issues.<\/p>\n The vehicle was noticed missing at about 7:30 a.m. The owner said board games and a jacket were inside the car.<\/p>\n The complaint says the vehicle was later found in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It was located at O\u2019Reilly Auto Parts on Gateway Drive.<\/p>\n Investigators said the car had significant damage. She also allegedly said she had been drinking that day.<\/p>\n According to the complaint, Schaan said she was in a crash at about 11:00 p.m. on December 25. She allegedly admitted to leaving the crash scene.<\/p>\n She told police the vehicle later stalled. She said she walked home after leaving the car, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n On December 27, another person contacted East Grand Forks police. That person reported being involved in a crash with a blue Honda Civic.<\/p>\n The complaint says the driver of the Civic left before law enforcement was called.<\/p>\n Investigators later spoke with Schaan\u2019s adoptive father. He said Schaan did not own a blue Honda Civic or any other vehicle.<\/p>\n The complaint also notes a pending case in North Dakota.
