Osage Drug DWI Case: Ponsford Man Charged<\/h2>\n

Osage, Becker County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Matthew Jon Leigland, 32, of Ponsford, has been charged in Becker County District Court with gross misdemeanor drug DWI.<\/p>\n

The case was filed in Minnesota\u2019s 7th Judicial District under court file number 03-CR-26-885.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, the charge stems from a traffic stop on January 31, 2026. The stop happened at about 7:02 p.m. in Osage.<\/p>\n

Highway 34 Stop In Osage<\/h2>\n

Court documents allege Leigland was seen driving on Highway 34. A Becker County deputy reported knowing Leigland\u2019s license was revoked.<\/p>\n

The deputy confirmed the license status through dispatch. The deputy then pulled in behind Leigland near Osage Bait and Tackle.<\/p>\n

Leigland spoke with the deputy outside the vehicle, according to the complaint. He said he was giving a friend a ride to get a drink.<\/p>\n

The complaint states Leigland had glossy and bloodshot eyes. It also says his pupils were constricted.<\/p>\n

The deputy also reported mushy speech. Leigland allegedly said he only used Suboxone through a prescription.<\/p>\n

Drug Test Results Cited<\/h2>\n

The complaint says field sobriety tests were conducted. Leigland allegedly showed several signs of impairment during those tests.<\/p>\n

He was arrested after the stop, according to court records. A search warrant was then obtained for a blood or urine sample.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Leigland agreed to provide a urine sample. The sample was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing.<\/p>\n

Test results later reported amphetamine and methamphetamine in Leigland\u2019s urine sample, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The charge cites Minnesota Statute 169A.20<\/a> and Minnesota Statute 169A.26<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Prior DWI Listed<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors allege one aggravating factor was present in the case. The complaint lists a prior DWI conviction within the past 10 years.<\/p>\n

That conviction was entered on May 29, 2024, in Becker County court file 03-CR-23-1936.<\/p>\n

The current charge carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail. It also carries a possible $3,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n
