According to a criminal complaint filed in Polk County District Court, Jacob Benjamin Larson is charged with second-degree driving while impaired.<\/p>\n
The charges stem from a crash reported late March 31, 2025. The complaint says the crash happened near 252nd Street Southwest and 355th Avenue Southwest.<\/p>\n
That location is in Fisher Township, in Polk County, Minnesota.<\/p>\n
ATV Reportedly Hit a Sign And Rolled<\/h2>\n
Authorities said emergency crews arrived at the crash scene and found Larson with a crashed Honda Sportax 400EX ATV.<\/p>\n
The complaint says the ATV appeared to have entered a ditch. It then struck a sign and rolled onto its side.<\/p>\n
Officials also reported the ATV did not have license plates. Only a partial VIN was found at the scene.<\/p>\n
Larson was evaluated by Crookston Area Ambulance after the crash. The complaint says he had injuries at the scene.<\/p>\n The court document says a trooper spoke with Larson while he was inside an ambulance.<\/p>\n The complaint states Larson had bloodshot, watery eyes. It also says there was an odor of alcohol.<\/p>\n Larson agreed to provide a preliminary breath sample, according to the complaint. That test showed a reported alcohol concentration of .277.<\/p>\n Because of Larson\u2019s injuries, only one field sobriety test was performed. The complaint says Larson did not complete it satisfactorily.<\/p>\n The document also says Larson showed signs of memory trouble. It states he forgot he had driven the ATV.<\/p>\n Larson was arrested on suspicion of DWI. He was later taken by ambulance to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.<\/p>\n Authorities obtained a search warrant for a blood or urine sample, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n The complaint says Larson agreed to provide a blood sample. The sample was taken on April 1, 2025.<\/p>\n The sample was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing.
