Canosia Township (trfnews.i234.me)<\/strong> \u2013 On December 10, 2025, at 12:30 PM, a crash occurred on southbound Highway 53 near Midway Road in Canosia Township, St. Louis County. A 2018 Toyota Rav4, driven by 66-year-old Catherine Jeanette Chavers of Orr, MN, ran a red light at the intersection, striking a 2009 Volvo C30 Hatchback traveling southbound on Midway Road. The collision caused the Toyota Rav4 to spin out and crash into a stationary 2016 Ford Fusion, which had been waiting at a red light on northbound Highway 53.<\/p>\n

The driver of the Ford Fusion, 31-year-old Nathan Taylor Budisalovich of Cloquet, MN, and his passenger, 21-year-old Israel Jay Peterson of Mahtowa, MN, were both wearing seat belts. Budisalovich sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was assessed at the scene, but he did not require transport to a medical facility. Peterson was unharmed.<\/p>\n

The driver of the Volvo, 65-year-old Thomas George Allen of Duluth, MN, and his passenger, 43-year-old Thomas Gerald Allen, were also wearing seat belts and were uninjured. Chavers, the driver of the Toyota Rav4, was transported to Essentia Hospital Duluth with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

The road conditions were dry at the time of the incident, and the Canosia Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, and Dukes Towing responded to the scene.<\/p>\n
