Cass Lake Woman Charged In DWI, Fleeing Case<\/h2>\n

Cass Lake<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Cass Lake woman is facing criminal charges after officers allegedly found her asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle.<\/p>\n

Heather Ann Fineday has been charged in Cass County District Court with gross misdemeanor DWI. She is also charged with misdemeanor fleeing a peace officer by means other than a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n

The case was filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District. Court records list the case number as 11-CR-26-676.<\/p>\n

Vehicle Found Running At Abandoned Home<\/h2>\n

According to the criminal complaint, officers responded on July 3, 2025, to a suspicious person report.<\/p>\n

The report came from an abandoned residence on Pine Street in Cass Lake.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they allegedly found Fineday asleep at the wheel of a vehicle.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the vehicle was running. Loud music was also playing inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Officers reported that Fineday was first unresponsive. They were later able to wake her.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, Fineday had heavily slurred speech. Officers also said she was unsteady on her feet.<\/p>\n

Complaint Alleges Failed Arrest Attempt<\/h2>\n

Officers believed Fineday was intoxicated, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

They tried to begin field sobriety testing. The complaint says Fineday did not cooperate.<\/p>\n

As officers began placing her under arrest, she allegedly slipped away.<\/p>\n

The complaint says she fled on foot toward the southeast.<\/p>\n

Officers later located Fineday nearby. She was then placed under arrest.<\/p>\n

BCA Test Results Cited In Complaint<\/h2>\n

A warrant was obtained for a blood or urine sample, according to court records.<\/p>\n

The complaint says a urine sample was collected and sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.<\/p>\n

Test results later showed a reported alcohol concentration of .180.<\/p>\n

Minnesota law treats some impaired driving cases more seriously when alcohol concentration is .16 or higher. More information is available from the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The complaint also cites Minnesota\u2019s fleeing statute. That law can be reviewed through the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fineday is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
