Roseau Man Charged In Cancelled License Stop<\/h2>\n
Roseau County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Warroad man is facing several charges after a traffic stop in Roseau.<\/p>\n

Alexander Sterling Nichols, 35, of Warroad, is charged in Roseau County District Court.<\/p>\n

The case was filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District.<\/p>\n

Court records list the court file number as 68-CR-26-293.<\/p>\n

Nichols is charged with driving after cancellation as being inimical to public safety.<\/p>\n

That charge is listed as a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

He is also charged with failing to carry proof of insurance.<\/p>\n

A third count accuses him of a seat belt violation.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop Reported In Roseau<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, the stop happened on April 30, 2026.<\/p>\n

Authorities say the vehicle was seen on Center Street East in Roseau.<\/p>\n

The complaint states the driver was preparing to turn onto 11th Avenue Northeast.<\/p>\n

An officer reported seeing the driver without a seat belt.<\/p>\n

The vehicle later turned onto State Highway 11.<\/p>\n

Authorities then conducted a traffic stop.<\/p>\n

The driver pulled into the B&B Plumbing & Heating parking area.<\/p>\n

Complaint Lists License And Insurance Issues<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Nichols did not have identification with him.<\/p>\n

He allegedly told authorities he did not have a driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n

Authorities also allege he could not provide proof of insurance.<\/p>\n

A records check showed a cancelled-IPS Minnesota driving status.<\/p>\n

IPS means the cancellation was listed as inimical to public safety.<\/p>\n

The insurance charge is tied to Minnesota Statute 169.791<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nichols Taken To Roseau County Jail<\/h2>\n

Authorities say Nichols was arrested at the scene.<\/p>\n

He was then transported to the Roseau County Jail.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the vehicle was left parked safely at the scene.<\/p>\n

Court documents also state Nichols was on active court conditions.<\/p>\n

Those conditions allegedly barred him from driving without a valid license.<\/p>\n

They also required current motor vehicle insurance.<\/p>\n

The driving after cancellation charge carries a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible fine of up to $3,000.<\/p>\n

All charges are allegations at this stage.<\/p>\n
