The case is filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District under court file number 15-CR-26-198.<\/p>\n<p>The charges stem from an alleged incident on May 25, 2026. The complaint lists the location as a campground near 160th Street in Park Rapids.<\/p>\n<h2>Felony Charges Filed<\/h2>\n<p>Ferestad is charged with first-degree burglary under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/609.582\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Statute 609.582<\/a>. That charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. It also carries a possible $35,000 fine.<\/p>\n<p>He is also charged with second-degree assault under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/609.222\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Statute 609.222<\/a>. That charge carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison. It also carries a possible $14,000 fine.<\/p>\n<p>The allegations remain charges only. Ferestad is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n<h2>Complaint Details Alleged Cabin Entry<\/h2>\n<p>According to the complaint, deputies were called around 9:27 p.m. on May 25. A caller reported trouble at the campground.<\/p>\n<p>A witness told law enforcement that Ferestad had been at the campground earlier. The witness said Ferestad had left his phone, wallet, and keys behind.<\/p>\n<p>The witness said he went to Ferestad\u2019s nearby home to return those items. The complaint states Ferestad opened the door and pointed a firearm at him.<\/p>\n<p>The witness described the gun as a short black firearm. He also reported hearing the hammer cock. He then put the items down and walked away.<\/p>\n<p>Another person told law enforcement that Ferestad had been near her cabin. She said he had been drinking and later began pulling items from her smoker.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says she told him to leave. She reported that Ferestad tried to enter through the front door. She was able to pull him away.<\/p>\n<p>She then believed he was leaving. Instead, she said he moved toward a side door. She ran inside to lock it, but did not get there in time.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint states Ferestad entered the cabin and pushed her once inside. Another person in the cabin reported seeing Ferestad push her and force his way inside.<\/p>\n<p>A friend later removed Ferestad from the cabin, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<h2>Warrant Complaint Filed<\/h2>\n<p>The court document is listed as a warrant complaint.
