Callaway Man Charged After DWI Crash With Kids<\/h2>\n

Becker County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Callaway man is facing a gross misdemeanor DWI charge after a crash in Becker County.<\/p>\n

According to a criminal complaint filed in Becker County District Court, Chico Saice Jr. is charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.<\/p>\n

The charge stems from an alleged incident on May 27, 2026. Court records say Saice crashed a vehicle into a ditch in Becker County.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, an anonymous caller reported that Saice was allegedly driving drunk. The caller also said the vehicle had gone into a ditch.<\/p>\n

A responding officer found the vehicle in the ditch. The complaint says Saice was unsteady on his feet. It also says he smelled strongly of alcohol.<\/p>\n

Saice allegedly told officers he took a corner too fast and crashed. He also said two children were inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the children were later identified as ages 7 and 9. No injuries were listed in the complaint details provided.<\/p>\n

Complaint Alleges High BAC<\/h2>\n

Court records say Saice showed signs of impairment. Those signs included poor balance, slurred speech, and bloodshot, watery eyes.<\/p>\n

Saice allegedly told officers he had three drinks. He also said he had not consumed alcohol since the crash.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Saice performed an eye-based field sobriety test. Officers noted six out of six possible signs of impairment.<\/p>\n

Authorities said Saice was too intoxicated to complete other field sobriety tests. He also allegedly refused a preliminary breath test.<\/p>\n

Saice was arrested and later agreed to a breath test. The complaint says the final test showed a blood alcohol concentration of .29.<\/p>\n

Minnesota law covers DWI offenses under Minnesota Statute 169A.20<\/a>. Enhanced penalties can apply under Minnesota Statute 169A.25<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists aggravating factors. Those include two prior DWI cases, a BAC over twice the legal limit, and children under 16 in the vehicle.<\/p>\n
