Goodridge Woman Charged In Meth DWI Case<\/h2>\n

East Grand Forks<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Goodridge woman is facing felony and misdemeanor charges in Polk County District Court.<\/p>\n

Kristine Kay Grindeland, 58, has been charged in a case filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District.<\/p>\n

The complaint charges Grindeland with third-degree controlled substance crime.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege she possessed methamphetamine in a prohibited zone in East Grand Forks.<\/p>\n

The charge is listed as a felony under Minnesota Statute 152.023<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the alleged possession happened near Lafave Park and Sacred Heart School.<\/p>\n

Court documents say the area was within 300 feet or one city block of those zones.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop Led To Arrest<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, an East Grand Forks officer stopped a green Dodge Durango.<\/p>\n

The stop happened near County Road 17 and U.S. Highway 2.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the vehicle had two lights that were not working.<\/p>\n

Grindeland was identified as the driver.<\/p>\n

Court documents say she did not have a valid driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n

The complaint says officers noted signs of possible impairment.<\/p>\n

Those signs included rapid speech, fidgeting, sweating, and unusual eye movement.<\/p>\n

Meth Allegedly Found In Vehicle<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Grindeland later admitted using methamphetamine earlier that day.<\/p>\n

She was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.<\/p>\n

Officers then searched the vehicle with consent, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

During the search, officers allegedly found a white crystal substance.<\/p>\n

The substance was wrapped in plastic inside a gray purse.<\/p>\n

It was located on the front passenger floorboard.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the substance tested positive for methamphetamine.<\/p>\n

Grindeland also provided a urine sample.<\/p>\n

Court documents say that the sample tested positive for methamphetamine.<\/p>\n

DWI Charge Also Filed<\/h2>\n

Grindeland is also charged with fourth-degree driving while impaired.<\/p>\n

The charge alleges she drove with methamphetamine or its metabolite in her body.<\/p>\n

That charge is listed under Minnesota Statute 169A.20<\/a> and Minnesota Statute 169A.27<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The felony drug charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible $250,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The misdemeanor DWI charge carries up to 90 days in jail.<\/p>\n
