Detroit Lakes<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Detroit Lakes woman is facing charges in Becker County District Court.<\/p>\n

Deborah Lee Collins, 43, is accused of giving another person\u2019s name and date of birth during a traffic stop.<\/p>\n

The case was filed in Minnesota\u2019s 7th Judicial District under court file 03-CR-26-712.<\/p>\n

Charges Filed In Becker County<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, Collins is charged with giving a peace officer a false name.<\/p>\n

That charge is listed as a gross misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 609.506<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She is also charged with using a false name and date of birth to identify herself to police.<\/p>\n

That charge falls under Minnesota Statute 171.22<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Collins also faces a misdemeanor charge of driving after suspension.<\/p>\n

The complaint says that charge is listed under Minnesota Statute 171.24<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop Led To Review<\/h2>\n

The complaint says the case began on February 2, 2026.<\/p>\n

A gold 2006 Ford was stopped in Becker County for an expired registration tag.<\/p>\n

The driver allegedly gave a license belonging to Lisa Marie Haugen.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the license was expired.<\/p>\n

The driver allegedly said she had lost her newer license.<\/p>\n

She also said she was trying to get a replacement.<\/p>\n

Authorities said the license information came back valid with no alerts.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was released with a warning.<\/p>\n

Identity Question Raised Later<\/h2>\n

The complaint says another law enforcement contact later raised questions about the stop.<\/p>\n

Authorities spoke with Lisa Marie Haugen after reviewing the February traffic stop.<\/p>\n

Haugen allegedly said she was not driving the vehicle that day.<\/p>\n

She also said Collins had previously possessed her expired driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n

Haugen said the license was supposed to be destroyed.<\/p>\n

Investigators then reviewed body camera video from the traffic stop.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the driver was identified as Collins after that review.<\/p>\n

Authorities also noted that Collins may use the name Deborah Monson.<\/p>\n

Suspended License Alleged<\/h2>\n

The complaint says the vehicle was registered to Steven Collins.<\/p>\n

Authorities also checked Collins\u2019 driving record.<\/p>\n

The complaint says her driving status was suspended at the time.<\/p>\n

It also says she had an active warrant during the traffic stop.<\/p>\n

The gross misdemeanor charges each carry a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n

Each also carries a possible $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The driving after suspension charge carries up to 90 days in jail.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Collins is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
