Bemidji<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Bemidji woman is facing gross misdemeanor charges after a May traffic stop led to allegations of DWI test refusal and driving after cancellation.<\/p>\n

According to a Beltrami County District Court complaint, Deanne Florence Cloud was charged in court file 04-CR-26-1015. The case was filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District.<\/p>\n

Cloud is charged with refusing to submit to a chemical test. The charge falls under Minnesota Statute 169A.20<\/a>. She is also charged with driving after cancellation as being inimical to public safety. That charge falls under Minnesota Statute 171.24<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop On Paul Bunyan Drive<\/h2>\n

The complaint says the incident happened on May 2, 2026, in Bemidji. Police reported seeing Cloud driving east on Paul Bunyan Drive NW.<\/p>\n

An officer reported that Cloud appeared slumped forward in the driver\u2019s seat. The officer then followed the vehicle as it turned onto Ridgeway Avenue.<\/p>\n

Police checked the vehicle registration. The complaint says Cloud was the registered owner. The check also showed her driving privileges were canceled as being inimical to public safety.<\/p>\n

Police Allege Signs Of Impairment<\/h2>\n

During the stop, police said Cloud showed signs of possible impairment. The complaint lists glassy eyes, slow speech, and body tremors.<\/p>\n

Cloud allegedly admitted to using controlled substances \u201ca while ago.\u201d Police said she later stated that she uses controlled substances.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Cloud was asked to perform field sobriety tests. Police reported that she did not perform them in a satisfactory way.<\/p>\n

Search Warrant And Test Refusal<\/h2>\n

Cloud was taken into custody and brought to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center. Police then sought a search warrant for a blood or urine sample.<\/p>\n

The complaint says a judge granted the warrant. Cloud was shown the warrant and warned that refusing a test is a crime.<\/p>\n

Police said Cloud refused a blood sample. She allegedly claimed the warrant was not valid because the judge\u2019s signature was electronic.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Cloud also questioned the wording in the warrant. Police then asked for a urine sample. Officers reported that Cloud turned away and did not provide one.<\/p>\n

Police deemed the actions a refusal.<\/p>\n

The court complaint lists both charges as gross misdemeanors. Each count carries a possible maximum sentence of 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n

Cloud is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
