Hallock<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Lancaster man is facing DWI and speeding charges in Kittson County District Court.<\/p>\n

Tyler Jason Klegstad, 28, of Lancaster, is charged in court file 35-CR-26-51. The case was filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from an April 12, 2026, traffic stop in Hallock.<\/p>\n

Court documents say the incident began around 12:20 a.m. on Highway 75. A Kittson County deputy reported seeing a vehicle leave the west side of the highway.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the vehicle sped up after its engine revved. Radar showed the vehicle going 43 mph in a 30 mph zone.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop Near County Road 22<\/h2>\n

The deputy followed the vehicle and reported lane issues. The complaint says the vehicle crossed the center line and fog line.<\/p>\n

The vehicle later turned east onto County Road 22. Court documents say it traveled onto the gravel shoulder.<\/p>\n

A traffic stop was then made near Nutrien Ag Solutions.<\/p>\n

The deputy identified the driver as Tyler Jason Klegstad. The complaint says the deputy smelled alcohol while speaking with him.<\/p>\n

Klegstad was asked to step out of the vehicle. He agreed to perform field sobriety tests, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Breath Test Allegations<\/h2>\n

Court records say Klegstad showed signs of impairment during several tests. Those included eye, balance, walking, alphabet, and counting tests.<\/p>\n

The complaint also says Klegstad reported arthritis in his knees before balance tests.<\/p>\n

During a preliminary breath test, Klegstad allegedly said, \u201cI\u2019ll probably blow over.\u201d The complaint says the test showed a .215 reading.<\/p>\n

He was arrested and taken to the Kittson County Jail.<\/p>\n

At about 1:11 a.m., a breath test was administered. Court documents allege Klegstad\u2019s breath alcohol concentration was .21.<\/p>\n

Charges Filed In Kittson County<\/h2>\n

Klegstad is charged with third-degree DWI. That count is listed as a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

He is also charged with fourth-degree DWI and speeding.<\/p>\n

Under Minnesota DWI law<\/a>, a person may face charges for driving under the influence or with an alcohol concentration of .08 or more.<\/p>\n
