Bemidji<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Bemidji woman is facing two assault charges after a reported disturbance on May 7, 2026.<\/p>\n

Promise Rose Weiss, 38, of Bemidji, is charged in Beltrami County District Court. The case is filed under court file number 04-CR-26-1069.<\/p>\n

The complaint charges Weiss with felony domestic assault. She is also charged with fifth-degree assault, a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

Under Minnesota Statute 609.2242<\/a>, felony domestic assault can carry up to five years in prison. It can also carry a $10,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n

Complaint Details<\/h2>\n

According to the criminal complaint, officers were called to Calihan Avenue Northeast in Bemidji. The call came in around 11:29 p.m.<\/p>\n

A pregnant woman told officers that Weiss punched her in the stomach. The woman said she was scared of Weiss.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the woman and X.J. were in a bathroom together. The woman said Weiss forced her way inside.<\/p>\n

She told officers Weiss was swinging her arms. She said Weiss struck her in the stomach.<\/p>\n

X.J. told officers Weiss slapped him on the right side of his face. He said Weiss is his mother.<\/p>\n

The complaint says officers saw redness on X.J.\u2019s cheek. He also reported a burning feeling from the slap.<\/p>\n

Prior Convictions Listed<\/h2>\n

Weiss denied assaulting anyone, according to the complaint. She was later arrested for domestic assault.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Weiss gave a preliminary breath test at the Beltrami County Jail. The result was reported as .229.<\/p>\n

Court records listed in the complaint show prior domestic assault convictions. They include cases from 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n

The complaint also states Weiss was on supervised probation. That probation involved prior DWI and child endangerment convictions.<\/p>\n
