Bemidji<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) – A 16-year-old Bemidji boy is facing four felony charges after a reported apartment shooting.<\/p>\n

The shooting happened on May 7 near 2500 Itasca Loop NW in Bemidji.<\/p>\n

According to court documents, officers responded at about 4:45 p.m.<\/p>\n

They found three adults who had each been shot.<\/p>\n

The charges are only accusations. The teen is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n

Three Adults Injured<\/h2>\n

Court documents say one victim was shot in the abdomen.<\/p>\n

She told authorities the shooter was her son.<\/p>\n

She said he was upset after his cell phone privileges were suspended.<\/p>\n

A second victim, identified as the teen\u2019s father, was shot in the thigh.<\/p>\n

First responders found the bullet had struck an artery.<\/p>\n

A tourniquet was used to stop severe bleeding.<\/p>\n

A third adult was also shot in the leg.<\/p>\n

That victim also needed a tourniquet, according to court documents.<\/p>\n

All three victims were stabilized at the scene.<\/p>\n

They were then taken to the Sanford Bemidji Emergency Room with critical injuries.<\/p>\n

Teen Later Surrendered<\/h2>\n

The teen allegedly fled after the shooting.<\/p>\n

Nearly two hours later, he surrendered at the law enforcement center.<\/p>\n

Court documents say the surrender happened without incident.<\/p>\n

The teen allegedly admitted he became angry after losing phone privileges.<\/p>\n

He also allegedly admitted he took a pistol and shot three people.<\/p>\n

Authorities said he claimed he got the firearm by himself.<\/p>\n

He said his parents did not know he had obtained it.<\/p>\n

The teen also allegedly admitted to hiding the firearm after the shooting.<\/p>\n

Court documents say it was hidden under leaves near 15th Street.<\/p>\n

The area was near Bemidji Middle School, according to the filing.<\/p>\n

Four Felony Counts Filed<\/h2>\n

The teen is charged with first-degree assault, causing great bodily harm.<\/p>\n

He also faces two second-degree assault counts involving a dangerous weapon.<\/p>\n

A fourth charge alleges he possessed ammunition, a pistol, or an assault weapon while under 18.<\/p>\n

Minnesota court records can be searched through the Minnesota Judicial Branch<\/a>.<\/p>\n

State assault laws are listed by the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The teen\u2019s initial hearing was scheduled for May 14 at the Beltrami County Courthouse.<\/p>\n

His mother told the Pioneer the family is focused on recovery.<\/p>\n

She said the family is standing together with unconditional love.<\/p>\n
