Crookston<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me)<\/a> \u2014 A North Dakota woman is facing charges in Polk County District Court after a traffic stop in Crookston.<\/p>\n

According to a court complaint, Kaylee Ann Knatterud, of Oberon, North Dakota, was charged with third-degree driving while impaired.<\/p>\n

The charge is a gross misdemeanor under Minnesota law.<\/p>\n

Knatterud is also charged with driving without insurance.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop In Crookston<\/h2>\n

The complaint says the stop happened on May 2, 2026, at about 2:03 a.m.<\/p>\n

A Polk County deputy reported seeing a white 2013 Ford F-150 on North Broadway.<\/p>\n

The vehicle later turned west onto West 6th Street.<\/p>\n

Court records say the vehicle made a wide turn.<\/p>\n

The deputy also reported seeing the vehicle swerve into a turn lane.<\/p>\n

The vehicle then returned to its lane, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the vehicle later drove on the center line.<\/p>\n

A traffic stop was then made in Crookston.<\/p>\n

Insurance Allegation<\/h2>\n

Knatterud was identified as the driver.<\/p>\n

Two passengers were also inside the vehicle, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The deputy asked for proof of insurance.<\/p>\n

Knatterud allegedly said the vehicle had been bought two days earlier.<\/p>\n

She also allegedly said insurance had not yet been added.<\/p>\n

Breath Test Result Alleged<\/h2>\n

The complaint says the deputy noted signs of possible alcohol use.<\/p>\n

Those signs included bloodshot and watery eyes.<\/p>\n

The deputy also reported smelling alcohol from the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Knatterud allegedly nodded yes when asked if she had too much to drink.<\/p>\n

She later declined field sobriety testing, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

She also declined a preliminary breath test at the scene.<\/p>\n

Knatterud was arrested and taken to the Northwest Regional Correctional Center.<\/p>\n

At the correctional center, she was read the Minnesota breath test advisory.<\/p>\n

The complaint says she later agreed to provide a breath sample.<\/p>\n

At 3:18 a.m., the sample allegedly showed a blood alcohol concentration of .21.<\/p>\n

Court Case Continues<\/h2>\n

The third-degree DWI charge carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible fine of up to $3,000.<\/p>\n

The no insurance charge carries a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible fine of up to $1,000.<\/p>\n

The case is filed in Polk County District Court.<\/p>\n

The court file number is 60-CR-26-573.<\/p>\n

All charges are allegations.<\/p>\n

Knatterud is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
