Karlstad<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Halma man is facing several charges after a traffic stop in Kittson County.<\/p>\n

Dennis Robert McAnnany, of Halma, is charged in Kittson County District Court. The case is filed in Minnesota\u2019s Ninth Judicial District under court file 35-CR-25-173.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the incident happened on October 13, 2025, near Karlstad. A Kittson County deputy reported seeing a gray Pontiac traveling west on Minnesota Highway 11.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, the vehicle had no front license plate. It also had no rear license plate.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop Near Karlstad<\/h2>\n

The complaint says the vehicle entered Karlstad and passed a posted 40 mph speed sign. It was allegedly still traveling about 60 mph.<\/p>\n

The deputy then stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of the Karlstad Golf Club. McAnnany was identified as the driver.<\/p>\n

Authorities allege McAnnany could not provide proof of insurance during the stop. The complaint also alleges the vehicle was not properly registered.<\/p>\n

Charges Filed In Kittson County<\/h2>\n

McAnnany is charged with intent to escape tax under Minnesota Statute 168.35<\/a>. That charge is a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

The maximum penalty is 364 days in jail. It also carries a possible $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

He is also charged with failure to provide proof of insurance. That charge is listed under Minnesota Statute 169.791<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The complaint also lists speeding under Minnesota Statute 169.14<\/a>. A license plate violation is also listed under Minnesota Statute 169.79<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The speeding and plate counts are petty misdemeanors. Each carries a possible $300 fine.<\/p>\n

A criminal complaint is not a finding of guilt. McAnnany is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
