Thief River Falls<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Clearbrook man faces several charges after a traffic stop turned into a brief pursuit early May 2.<\/p>\n

Ronald Golden James Hoiland, 33, has been charged with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n

He also faces second-degree DWI, driving after revocation, and failure to yield charges.<\/p>\n

The incident happened at about 1:29 a.m. in Thief River Falls.<\/p>\n

Vehicle Allegedly Pulled In Front Of Police<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, police had to stop for a motorist at Fourth Street and Main Avenue.<\/p>\n

The vehicle had allegedly pulled out in front of them at the intersection.<\/p>\n

An officer followed the vehicle after the near collision.<\/p>\n

The complaint said the vehicle then began veering off the right side of Main Avenue.<\/p>\n

Police attempted to stop the vehicle near Sixth Street and Main Avenue.<\/p>\n

However, Hoiland allegedly did not stop.<\/p>\n

The complaint said he continued driving at about the same speed.<\/p>\n

Brief Pursuit Ends In Yard<\/h2>\n

The officer used several siren tones during the stop attempt.<\/p>\n

Hoiland allegedly continued driving and veered from side to side.<\/p>\n

The complaint said he nearly clipped a parked vehicle along LaBree Avenue.<\/p>\n

Speeds stayed around 30 mph during the pursuit.<\/p>\n

Hoiland later drove into a yard between 13th and 14th streets.<\/p>\n

He then stopped the vehicle, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Breath Test Reported At 0.22 BAC<\/h2>\n

Police said Hoiland showed signs of impairment.<\/p>\n

An officer also reported seeing a mixed alcoholic drink in a cupholder.<\/p>\n

Hoiland was told to sit in a squad vehicle.<\/p>\n

Instead, he dropped to his knees and placed his hands behind his head.<\/p>\n

He then laid down on the ground, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Police said Hoiland repeatedly told the officer to take him in.<\/p>\n

At one point, he allegedly referenced a DWI during the officer\u2019s questions.<\/p>\n

Hoiland failed field sobriety tests, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

A breath test later showed a blood alcohol content of 0.22.<\/p>\n

The complaint said Hoiland has a revoked driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n

It also said he has two prior DWI convictions within the last 10 years.<\/p>\n

Second-degree DWI is listed under Minnesota Statute 169A.25<\/a>.<\/p>\n
