Duluth<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Duluth pilot made an emergency landing on Highway 61 Saturday afternoon after his small plane lost engine power.<\/p>\n

The emergency landing happened around 3 p.m. near Eastridge Boulevard. The area is between Duluth and Knife River.<\/p>\n

According to the Duluth Police Department<\/a>, officers responded after a single-engine plane landed on the highway.<\/p>\n

The pilot told Northern News Now that he had taken off from Duluth. He was flying along the North Shore at the time.<\/p>\n

He said he was breaking in a new engine on the aircraft. During the flight, the engine stopped running.<\/p>\n

Pilot Lands Safely On Highway<\/h2>\n

The pilot was the only person inside the plane. He is from Duluth.<\/p>\n

He told crews at the scene that he was not hurt.<\/p>\n

After landing, the plane was moved off the highway. Officers helped push it into a grassy area near Eastridge Boulevard.<\/p>\n

Traffic was not impacted by the emergency landing.<\/p>\n

Engine Trouble Reported During Flight<\/h2>\n

The pilot said he trains for emergency situations like this. He said that preparation helped him respond safely.<\/p>\n
