Bemidji<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Robin James Hill, 52, of Blackduck, is facing a felony drug charge and a gross misdemeanor false-name charge in Beltrami County District Court.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from an April 18, 2026, traffic stop in Bemidji.<\/p>\n

Court records list the case as 04-CR-26-895.<\/p>\n

Hill is charged with fifth-degree controlled substance possession.<\/p>\n

He is also charged with giving a peace officer the name of another person.<\/p>\n

The drug charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible $10,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The false-name charge carries up to 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop At Bemidji Gas Station<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, police stopped a silver Chevrolet Equinox around 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the vehicle had many necklaces hanging from the rearview mirror.<\/p>\n

Police say the stop was made for an equipment violation.<\/p>\n

The driver pulled into Circle K South on Paul Bunyan Drive.<\/p>\n

The driver was identified as Sara Lu Tibbetts.<\/p>\n

Police reported signs that Tibbetts may have been impaired.<\/p>\n

She later failed several field sobriety tests, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Tibbetts was arrested for suspected impaired driving.<\/p>\n

Police also reported finding a small bag containing a white crystalline substance.<\/p>\n

Passenger Accused Of Giving False Name<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Hill was a passenger in the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Authorities allege he first gave the name Thomas Hill.<\/p>\n

He also allegedly gave a date of birth that did not match the records.<\/p>\n

Police checked the name and found that the photo did not match the passenger.<\/p>\n

The complaint says investigators later identified the passenger as Robin James Hill.<\/p>\n

Hill was then arrested and removed from the vehicle.<\/p>\n

When Hill stood up, police reported seeing a tinfoil bindle where he had been sitting.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the bindle contained what appeared to be fentanyl.<\/p>\n

Both Hill and Tibbetts were taken to the Beltrami County Law Enforcement Center.<\/p>\n

Court records also state Hill had several active warrants.<\/p>\n

Hill is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
