East Grand Forks<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Randy Lee Olson, 60, of East Grand Forks, is facing a gross misdemeanor DWI charge in Polk County District Court.<\/p>\n

The charge stems from a March 6, 2026, traffic stop in Polk County.<\/p>\n

Court records list the case as 60-CR-26-306.<\/p>\n

Olson is charged with third-degree driving while impaired.<\/p>\n

The charge carries a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop On County Road 59<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, a Polk County deputy was on patrol around 9:53 p.m.<\/p>\n

The deputy saw a white 2014 Chevrolet Silverado on County Road 59.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the vehicle passed with its bright headlights on.<\/p>\n

It also allegedly had no working license plate lights.<\/p>\n

A traffic stop was then started.<\/p>\n

The driver was identified as Randy Lee Olson.<\/p>\n

During the stop, the deputy reported signs of possible impairment.<\/p>\n

Those signs included bloodshot eyes, watery eyes, slurred speech, and an odor of alcohol.<\/p>\n

Complaint Cites Breath Test Results<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Olson was asked where he was coming from.<\/p>\n

Authorities allege he hummed instead of answering.<\/p>\n

Olson was then asked to step out for field sobriety testing.<\/p>\n

During the stop, Olson allegedly admitted drinking four to five beers earlier that day.<\/p>\n

The complaint says he could not hold the starting position for some tests.<\/p>\n

A preliminary breath test allegedly showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.21.<\/p>\n

Olson was then arrested on suspicion of DWI.<\/p>\n

He was taken to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center.<\/p>\n

Authorities later administered a DataMaster breath test at about 10:58 p.m.<\/p>\n

The complaint says that test showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.18.<\/p>\n

Charge Remains An Allegation<\/h2>\n

The charge is an allegation at this stage.<\/p>\n

Olson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
