Mahnomen<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Mahnomen man is facing a felony drug possession charge after a bag was found on a gas station floor.<\/p>\n

Percy Leonard French is charged in Mahnomen County District Court with fifth-degree drug possession.<\/p>\n

The case is filed in Minnesota\u2019s 9th Judicial District under court file 44-CR-26-175.<\/p>\n

A summons was issued in the case, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Bag Found At Cenex<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, law enforcement responded February 27, 2026.<\/p>\n

The report came from the Cenex gas station in Mahnomen.<\/p>\n

A cashier reported finding a bag of suspected drugs on the floor.<\/p>\n

The cashier told authorities the bag appeared to have been dropped.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the cashier did not touch the bag.<\/p>\n

Authorities reported seeing a plastic zip-top bag with blue stars.<\/p>\n

The bag had a visible amount of white substance inside.<\/p>\n

It was collected and brought to the White Earth Police Department.<\/p>\n

The complaint says testing showed a positive result for amphetamines.<\/p>\n

Store Video Reviewed<\/h2>\n

On March 2, 2026, authorities obtained video from the Cenex Community Co-op.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the video showed a person dropping a bag.<\/p>\n

Authorities identified that person as Percy Leonard French.<\/p>\n

The video allegedly showed French removing something from his pocket.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the bag then fell to the ground.<\/p>\n

French then paid for his items and left the store.<\/p>\n

Authorities reported that French got into a 2012 blue Silverado.<\/p>\n

The vehicle had a White Earth plate listed in court records.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the plate came back to White Earth Public Works.<\/p>\n

A manager later confirmed French was the driver of that truck.<\/p>\n

Felony Charge Filed<\/h2>\n

French is charged under Minnesota Statute 152.025<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The charge is listed as fifth-degree drug possession.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges French possessed a mixture containing amphetamine.<\/p>\n

The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible $10,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n

The complaint lists a prior felony fifth-degree drug conviction.<\/p>\n

That prior case is listed as court file 03-CR-16-78.<\/p>\n

The current charge is only an accusation at this stage.<\/p>\n

French is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
