{"id":26893,"date":"2026-04-26T11:37:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T16:37:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/?p=26893"},"modified":"2026-04-26T11:37:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T16:37:07","slug":"bemidji-dwi-charge-after-truck-found-in-ditch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/bemidji-dwi-charge-after-truck-found-in-ditch\/","title":{"rendered":"Bemidji DWI Charge After Truck Found In Ditch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Bemidji<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Bemidji woman is facing a gross misdemeanor DWI charge after police found a truck in a ditch.<\/p>\n<p>Leola Renee Grayhawk is charged in Beltrami County District Court.<\/p>\n<p>The case is filed in Minnesota\u2019s 9th Judicial District under court file 04-CR-26-811.<\/p>\n<p>The charge stems from an April 8, 2026, incident in Bemidji.<\/p>\n<h2>Welfare Check Leads To Ditch Scene<\/h2>\n<p>According to the complaint, law enforcement responded at about 2:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The call began as a welfare check on Avion Lane Northwest.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities were able to contact Grayhawk by phone.<\/p>\n<p>Grayhawk said she was in her vehicle and stuck.<\/p>\n<p>While driving toward the area, police found a black Chevrolet truck in a ditch.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says the truck was facing east on the westbound side of the road.<\/p>\n<p>Grayhawk was the only person in the vehicle, according to court records.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center; margin: 25px 0;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto; display: inline-block;\" src=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GrayhawkLeola.png\" alt=\"Mugshot of Leola Renee Grayhawk\" \/><em>Leola Renee Grayhawk<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Complaint Alleges Signs Of Impairment<\/h2>\n<p>As law enforcement approached, Grayhawk began holding her hands up.<\/p>\n<p>When the driver\u2019s door opened, authorities reported a strong odor of alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says Grayhawk had glassy eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities also described her as having a thousand-yard stare.<\/p>\n<p>Grayhawk confirmed she was not having self-harm thoughts.<\/p>\n<p>When asked to step out, she allegedly stumbled.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says she grabbed the door to keep from falling.<\/p>\n<p>After two steps, she allegedly lost her balance again.<\/p>\n<p>Another officer helped Grayhawk reach the pavement.<\/p>\n<h2>Breath Test Reported at .22<\/h2>\n<p>Authorities told Grayhawk they were seeing signs of impairment.<\/p>\n<p>According to the complaint, Grayhawk responded, \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She allegedly admitted to drinking beers and straight liquor.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities also reported smelling alcohol on her breath.<\/p>\n<p>Grayhawk was asked to perform field sobriety tests.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says she was unable to complete them satisfactorily.<\/p>\n<p>A preliminary breath test showed an alcohol concentration of .224.<\/p>\n<p>Grayhawk was then taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p>At the Beltrami County Jail, she agreed to submit a breath sample.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says the breath test showed an alcohol concentration of .22.<\/p>\n<h2>Case Filed In Beltrami County<\/h2>\n<p>Grayhawk is charged under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/169A.20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Statute 169A.20<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint also references <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/169A.26\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Statute 169A.26<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The charge carries up to 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n<p>It also carries a possible $3,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says Grayhawk had no prior alcohol-related convictions or license revocations.<\/p>\n<p>The charge is only an accusation at this stage.<\/p>\n<p>Grayhawk is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n<p>More case information may be available through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mncourts.gov\/Access-Case-Records.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Judicial Branch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m Chris Harper reporting for <a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TRF News<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) \u2014 A Bemidji woman is facing a gross misdemeanor DWI charge after police found a truck in a ditch.
