Brooks<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A St. Hilaire man is facing DWI and firearm-related charges after a pickup was found in a ditch near Brooks.<\/p>\n

Joshua Steven Anderson is charged in Red Lake County District Court with gross misdemeanor DWI.<\/p>\n

He is also charged with unlawful transportation of a firearm.<\/p>\n

The case is filed in Minnesota\u2019s 9th Judicial District under court file 63-CR-26-9.<\/p>\n

Pickup Found In Ditch<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, the incident happened January 8, 2026.<\/p>\n

A deputy received a report of a vehicle in the ditch east of Brooks.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was found near County Road 92 and 240th Street Southeast.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the vehicle was a white 1995 GMC Sierra.<\/p>\n

The pickup was running when authorities arrived.<\/p>\n

Anderson was seated inside the vehicle, according to court documents.<\/p>\n

When he saw law enforcement, Anderson exited the pickup.<\/p>\n

Authorities reported that Anderson had trouble keeping his balance.<\/p>\n

The complaint also says his speech was slurred.<\/p>\n

Authorities reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol.<\/p>\n

Breath Test Reported At .21<\/h2>\n

When asked about drinking, Anderson allegedly denied consuming alcohol.<\/p>\n

He provided his driver\u2019s license and was identified by authorities.<\/p>\n

Before field testing, Anderson said he had a knife in his pocket.<\/p>\n

The knife was removed and secured, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Authorities then conducted field sobriety testing.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Anderson had bloodshot and watery eyes.<\/p>\n

Authorities reported several signs of impairment during the eye test.<\/p>\n

A preliminary breath test allegedly showed a result of 0.255.<\/p>\n

Anderson was then placed under arrest for DWI.<\/p>\n

At the Red Lake County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Anderson agreed to a breath test.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the DataMaster test showed an alcohol concentration of 0.21.<\/p>\n

Handgun Reported Inside Pickup<\/h2>\n

Authorities searched the vehicle after the arrest.<\/p>\n

The complaint says an unholstered handgun was found on the driver\u2019s side floor.<\/p>\n

The firearm was secured as evidence.<\/p>\n

The DWI charge is listed under Minnesota Statute 169A.20<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The complaint also references Minnesota Statute 169A.26<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The firearm count is listed under Minnesota Statute 97B.045<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The DWI count carries up to 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible $3,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The charges are only accusations at this stage.<\/p>\n

Anderson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
