{"id":26865,"date":"2026-04-26T10:35:29","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T15:35:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/?p=26865"},"modified":"2026-04-26T10:35:29","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T15:35:29","slug":"bemidji-man-charged-in-church-knife-assault","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/bemidji-man-charged-in-church-knife-assault\/","title":{"rendered":"Bemidji Man Charged In Church Knife Assault"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Bemidji<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Bemidji man is facing two felony assault charges after an alleged knife incident at People\u2019s Church.<\/p>\n<p>Jared Lee Jones is charged in Beltrami County District Court with second-degree assault involving a dangerous weapon.<\/p>\n<p>He is also charged with felony fifth-degree assault involving prior convictions.<\/p>\n<p>The case is filed in Minnesota\u2019s 9th Judicial District under court file 04-CR-26-828.<\/p>\n<h2>Knife Report At People\u2019s Church<\/h2>\n<p>According to the complaint, law enforcement responded April 9, 2026, at about 4:15 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The call involved a report of a person with a knife in Bemidji.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says the person was actively trying to stab someone.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities arrived at People\u2019s Church and spoke with two people, identified as S.B. and B.S.<\/p>\n<p>S.B. reported that he had been stabbed, according to court documents.<\/p>\n<p>He showed authorities a cut on the pinky knuckle of his right hand.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities also reported seeing blood spatter near B.S.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center; margin: 25px 0;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto; display: inline-block;\" src=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/JonesJared-1.png\" alt=\"Mugshot of Jared Lee Jones\" \/><em>Jared Lee Jones<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Complaint Details Alleged Assault<\/h2>\n<p>S.B. told authorities he and Jones had been arguing.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says the argument led to Jones allegedly trying to stab S.B.<\/p>\n<p>S.B. described the weapon as a black knife.<\/p>\n<p>B.S. also spoke with law enforcement, according to court records.<\/p>\n<p>B.S. reported that Jones pulled out a black fold-out knife.<\/p>\n<p>B.S. said Jones attempted to stab the victim several times.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says Jones fled on foot when police sirens were heard.<\/p>\n<h2>Knife Found Near Dumpster<\/h2>\n<p>Law enforcement located Jones shortly after the report.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the knife, Jones allegedly said he discarded it nearby.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says Jones described the knife as a green switchblade.<\/p>\n<p>He allegedly said it was near a dumpster in a nearby alley.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities later found a knife with a green handle and black blade.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says the knife had fresh blood on it.<\/p>\n<h2>Felony Charges Filed<\/h2>\n<p>Jones is charged with second-degree assault under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/609.222\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Statute 609.222<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That felony charge carries a maximum sentence of seven years.<\/p>\n<p>It also carries a possible $14,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n<p>The second count is filed under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/609.224\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Statute 609.224<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That felony count carries up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>It also carries a possible $10,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint lists prior assault and no-contact-order convictions.<\/p>\n<p>The charges are only accusations at this stage.<\/p>\n<p>Jones is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n<p>More case information may be available through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mncourts.gov\/Access-Case-Records.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Judicial Branch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m Chris Harper reporting for <a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TRF News<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) \u2014 A Bemidji man is facing two felony assault charges after an alleged knife incident at People\u2019s Church.
